Santa And Jesus

When I was a single mom, raising 2 very young boys, I wanted them to know the True meaning of Christmas. Every year, we talked about how Jesus was born and we celebrated His birth on Christmas. I avoided talking much about Santa. I didn’t want to lie to them. I would emphasize that Saint Nicholas was a man who lived a long time ago and would take gifts to the needy children. All was good.

Then, Tim went to school. Now, he was in a private school at the time so I thought the whole Santa thing would be minimized. Evidently, no one told his friends. He started coming home with lots of questions about Santa.

I tried turning the questions back on him so his logic would show the truth (mind you, he’s 5…lol). I would ask him, “How could Santa deliver all those gifts and where does he get the gifts from?” I believe the answer to the first question had something to do with a rocket – typical 5 year old boy.

But the second answer caught me by surprise. When I asked Tim where Santa got all the gifts, he looked at me with those big blue eyes and said, “Santa went to Jesus’ birthday party and then brought us the gifts!” I thought that was great.

Just a little something to make you smile :). ~ Lisa

  1. That is so sweet Lisa! I have a 5 year old and she says some of the some types of things. Those are the moments we cherish.

Here’s my 2 year old’s funny for this year. We were putting up the Christmas Tree and I let the first tier “drop” down. He asked what I was doing and I told him I was putting up the tree. He looked at me as serious as could be and said “That’s not a tree — it’s an umbrella.” Guess the kid has a point! LOL!!!

    Thanks for sharing!
