How to Make a Succulent Pumpkin Centerpiece:
I saw a succulent pumpkin in a store the other day and thought it was soo cute. The decorator in me was going to buy it until I looked at the price and it was almost $50. I thought surely I can make a pumpkin succulent centerpiece for less! So I accepted my own challenge and set out to make it for less. If you aren’t a fan of succulents you can make this with other greenery.
Succulent Pumpkin Centerpiece – The Supplies:
First, you need to decide what color pumpkins you want to use. Right now its fall so most craft stores like Michaels have tons of options to choose from. If you are trying to do this during off-season try an online store like Amazon, you will be surprised what options they have. I picked up my Pumpkins for $11 each at Micheals. If they aren’t on sale make sure to see if there is 40% off any item coupon.
Second, you need to decide on what Succulents you want to use for your Pumpkin Centerpiece. I was going to use Michael’s ones but they weren’t on sale and ranged from $3.00 to $7.00 Each! At that price, I should have just bought the Succulent Pumpkin Centerpiece I saw. For me, Amazon came to my rescue! I ordered 14, yes 14 Assorted Artificial Succulents for only $24.99 (Note 14 at only $3.00 would have been $42.00). You can also try the dollar stores for them or other greenery should you choose that route. I am all about easy and shipped to my door free for less than Michaels was a win in my book.
Lastly, how do you want to attach the succulents to the pumpkin? I decided that I wasn’t going to cut out the pumpkin but either stick them in or glue them on. In the end, I stuck them into the Pumpkin while making sure they wouldn’t fall off by securing them with hot glue.

I suggest at first you lay out all your succulents and try to arrange them some before placing them on the pumpkin. To make my succulent pumpkin centerpiece look good I laid out several different version before I settled on the ones I liked. This was fun since I have 14 succulents to use I could mix and match and wasn’t limited. I ended up not using 5 of the succulents. This tempted me to go buy another pumpkin to put them to use.
Succulent White Pumpkin Centerpiece
Don’t you love the look of the white pumpkin with the pop of green from the succulents? I think I may like it more than the orange one. This Pumpkin only used 4 succulents on this one, again I just stuck the stems in and secured with the glue gun. I did have to trim one of the succulents stems because it was so long, but it cut easily with scissors.
Succulent Orange Pumpkin Centerpiece
Every time I look at this succulent centerpiece it makes me smile. First, because I did it myself, and you can too. Second I saved myself money and made two succulent pumpkin Centerpieces for less than the price I would have paid for one. This one I ended up using 5 succulents on top to fill it out. This one had two succulents that i had to trim the stems but again it was easy to do with a pair of scissors. All in all, this is an easy fall or harvest craft you can do yourself and save some money.
