I love shopping at Costco! Just the experience of going to the store is fun! Whether you are a member or have been thinking about getting a membership here are a few fun tips and tricks to help you shopper smarter at America’s favorite Warehouse! Let us know which ones you’ve used and add your own in the comments!
First things first – If you ever worked retail, you know that the prices are just a way to organize and categorize merchandise. At Costco, anything ending in $.99 is at its’ full price. Sale items always end in $.97. Any vendor or item that your store is trying out will end in either $.49 or $.79. Here is where the real savings is though: any item marked with an asterisk or ending in $.00 or $0.88 are items the managers want off the shelves ASAP and price them to sell! These items will usually be close to out of stock, so if you see a good deal on an item priced like this, grab it before it is gone! Know the system, have the power.
Costco is my favorite place to fill my tank. On average, my Costco is around $0.08-$0.10 cheaper per gallon! That add’s up to some awesome savings per tank! I tested this and filled up there for a whole month and saved an entire tanks worth!
Amazing Return Policy
Costco has an epic return policy. You have TWO YEARS to return almost anything! AND, they have a price matching option that gives you 30 days to prove their item was cheaper somewhere else! If you can, they’ll refund you the difference. Just make sure you keep your receipt!
You Don’t Need the Coupon Book
Costco sends out a monthly coupon book to all members, but you don’t need the coupon book to get the discount. Now, you’ll get the discount automatically at checkout! You can stack Costco coupons with rebate apps like Ibotta, Checkout51, and Snap by Groupon to score even more savings!
Score Cheap But Quality Baby Items
Costco brands are often made by name brand companies at a lesser price. For example, Huggies makes almost all of the diapers. Pureology makes Kirkland shampoo. Bumble Bee makes the tuna, and Humboldt Creamery makes Kirkland Signature ice cream. If you are shopping for booze, Grey Goose makes their vodka, while Jim Beam makes their bourbon
Save On Ink Refills
If you print a lot of coupons, Costco is a great place to refill your printer ink cartridges! You can get them refilled for only $7.50! That’s way cheaper than anywhere else!
